Obituary

Amber Rae (Haddock) Collins was born December 26, 1979 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Larry Dean Haddock and Shannon (Woodrift) Kennedy. She was raised in Alaska, where she developed a love for the state that stayed with her throughout her life. She adored vacationing with family, and Alaska and Branson were two of her favorite places to go.

When Amber was a teenager her family moved to Oklahoma. She attended Rogers State College after completing high school.

Amber married David Lloyd (D J) Collins on October 18, 2008. They shared a life together for twenty-three years as they built a family and made many wonderful memories.  Amber's favorite times were those spent with family. She was devoted to making a home and caring for her loved ones. Her husband, D J and her daughter, Tylar and son, Jesse will always cherish the recollections of their vacations and holidays spent together. Amber loved to cook for her family, so it is only natural that her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving in Mountain View, Arkansas with extended family. For leisure time Amber loved to read, and she enjoyed music, particularly rock and roll.

Amber was so passionate about caring for children, and that was expressed in all parts of her life. She worked and counseled in the youth groups, the Pathfinders and Adventurers, in the Seventh Day Adventists Church. In her professional life Amber chose to work with children in the Wagoner Ellington and Central Schools. Her dedication touched many lives.

Amber departed this life at her home in Wagoner, Oklahoma on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the age of 43 years. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Maudie Haddock; her maternal grandfather, Jerry Alexander and maternal grandmother, Arlyn Woodrift and her father-in-law, David Collins.

Amber's survivors will miss her dearly. They include her husband, D J Collins; her daughter, Tylar Collins; her son, Jesse Collins; her mother, Shannon Kennedy; her father and mother, Larry Haddock and Nerrisa Alexander; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alyssa and Brent Harris, Christy and Jonathan Alexander and Arlyn Kennedy; brother Aaron Kennedy; paternal grandfather, Merelyn Haddock and his wife, Mary; maternal grandmother, Dorene Richardson; maternal grandfather, Hershel Woodrift; mother-in-law, Shari Collins; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.

The memorial service to celebrate Amber's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 12 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner, OK. The officiant will be Jerry Mayes.
