Aris June Henderson

Aris June (Arnold) Henderson, lovingly known by most simply as “June,” passed from this life on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of her family.

June was born on June 2, 1944, in Haskell, Oklahoma, where she grew up and attended school. Throughout her life, June was known for her big heart, caring nature, and a personality that was completely her own. She loved deeply, cared for others freely, and never left much room for anyone to wonder what she was thinking.

June enjoyed working with her hands and could often be found crafting or sewing. She especially looked forward to attending the craft fairs at Fin and Feather, where she could spend time enjoying something she truly loved. She also enjoyed fishing and made many special memories taking the girls along with her.

The kitchen was another place where June shared her love. She was an excellent cook and became especially well known for her chicken and dressing and homemade chocolate pie. Her daughter, Christina, once informed her after a hospital stay that she might have used just a little too much cocoa in her chocolate pie, a family memory that was sure to bring both a laugh and probably an opinion from June. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren also knew there was nothing quite like her famous monster cookies, a treat that became one of the many special things they will always associate with Grandma June.

If you knew June, you also knew exactly where you stood with her. She was blunt, honest, and never afraid to speak her mind. If you did not want to know the answer, it was probably best not to ask June. Then again, sometimes she might tell you even if you did not ask. That straightforward spirit was simply part of who she was, and it became one of the many qualities that made June so memorable to those who knew and loved her.

Some of June’s greatest joy came from being a grandmother. Her grandchildren fondly remember Christmas parties and sleepovers, trips to Long John Silver’s, and evenings spent looking at the beautiful Christmas lights at Honor Heights Park. She would take them to Blake Park to play and found happiness in creating simple moments that, over the years, became treasured family memories.

Behind June’s strong personality was an incredibly giving heart. Caring for others came naturally to her. She loved her family immensely and showed that love through the meals she prepared, the places she took them, the things she made, and simply by being present in their lives. Those ordinary days and little traditions became some of the most meaningful gifts she could have given them.

June was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ruben Botts and William Henderson; and eight siblings.

Those left to cherish the many memories of her life are her daughters, Christina Welch and husband, Harold, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Linda Miller and husband, Ricky, of Wagoner, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Amy Gates and husband, Daniel, Ricky Miller and wife, Whitney, Heath Welch and wife, Savannah, DW Welch and wife, Andrea, and Cassie Miller and husband, Josh; her great grandchildren, Kaylee Rollins and husband, Cody, and Austin Gates and wife, Chelsea; her great-great grandchildren, Allie Welch, Bryson Dennison, Oakley Rollins, Annelise Welch, Nova Dennison, Thomas Dennison, Penelope Rollins, and Axel Terpin; along with many other relatives and friends who were blessed to know and love her.

June leaves behind more than memories. She leaves behind recipes that will be made again, stories that will continue to be told, Christmas traditions that will bring smiles, and a family who will remember her honesty, humor, generosity, and unmistakable way of loving them.

Her family will miss her immensely, but the laughter, lessons, traditions, and love June gave so freely will remain a treasured part of their lives for generations to come.

Family and friends will be greeted at a Visitation on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held to celebrate the life of June Henderson on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Hulbert Community Cemetery (IOOF) in Hulbert, Oklahoma.
