Obituary

Arliss Warren "Bud" Moss passed away in his home in Hulbert, Oklahoma, on December 20, 2022, after a long illness.

Bud was born to Fred and Lela Kate Stevenson Moss on December 23, 1931, in Ray, Oklahoma. He graduated from Hulbert High School.  Bud lived most of his life in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, except for the years he served in the United States Navy, stationed in Port Hueneme, California, the Philippines, and Aleutian Islands of Alaska.

Bud married the love of his life, Patricia Belle "Pat" Mauck, in 1956.  Bud and Pat were married for over 65 years at the time of his death.  Pat survives her husband and cared for him with love and devotion through his illness. He also is survived by their three children, Michael Moss (Kelly), Ron Moss (Mary Wolf), and Sandra Locke (Bruce); three grand-children, Alex Magee (Brittania), Michaela Trammell (Darryle), and Katherine Moss; and two great-grandchildren, Arliss and Warren Magee.

Bud's parents and one brother, Troy Moss, predecease him.  He is survived by his sisters, Laurine Dry and Nova Childers, and by his brother, James Edward Moss, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Bud and Pat started a successful dairy farm business, which they operated until their retirement.  They continue in the cattle breeding business to date.  Bud's and Pat's love of cattle breeding was shared and carried on by their son, Mike, and grandson, Alex.

Bud was a gentle, kind man who loved God and his family, and he enjoyed the friendship of all he knew. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Bud was a faithful member of Peggs Community Church and read the entire Bible at least once each year, usually reading in the early morning before anyone else was awake.  He was a lifelong member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows 341 Hulbert Lodge. He served as an officer and coordinator for the I.O.O.F. Hulbert Cemetery Association for many years.

Bud was generous with his time and helpful whenever needed.  He was knowledgeable about cattle, horses, all things practical and was a trusted advisor to countless family and friends through the years. He was honorable, trustworthy, good-humored, and will be missed by those fortunate to know him.

A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on December 27, 2022 at the Peggs Community Church.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a tribute give a donation to Peggs Community Church or the charity of their choice.
