Barbara Jean (Rogers) Young, 86, of Hulbert, Oklahoma, was born on December 28, 1939, to Lacy Lee Rogers and Eva Marie (Brummett) Rogers in Hulbert, Oklahoma. She departed this life on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Ascension St. John Hospital in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by the love of her family. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was centered around her faith, her family, and the land she so dearly loved. She attended and graduated from Hulbert Public Schools and remained a lifelong resident of Hulbert, a community she was proud to call home.
For several years, Barbara faithfully served as the cafeteria manager for Hulbert Public Schools, where she cared for countless students as if they were her own. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond the school walls. Alongside her beloved husband, Jack Young, and best friend, Jay Young, she helped manage Young Cattle Company, raising Black Angus and Brangus cattle. She took great pride in her work, often found checking cattle, tending to her land, and ensuring everything was done right.
Barbara had a gift for homemaking. She was well known for keeping an immaculate home, often joked about by family as being so clean you could eat off the floor. She loved cooking and canning, filling her pantry with the fruits of her labor. Her vegetable garden was famously described as being the size of a football field, a true testament to her dedication and work ethic. She also found joy in tending to her flower beds, where her care brought beauty season after season. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved chasing her grandchildren, attending their ball games, and cheering them on in every endeavor. Her love for them was immeasurable, and her presence at their events was a constant and cherished gift. Barbara loved her family immensely, and they will forever carry her strength, wisdom, and love in their hearts. She was a faithful and active member of Spring Valley Free Will Baptist Church, where her faith guided her life and relationships.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Lacy and Eva Rogers; her beloved husband, Jack Young; her sister, Lillian Teague, and brother-in-law, Hershel Teague; her brother, Wayne Rogers, and sister-in-law, Mary; and a special nephew, Dwayne Rogers.
Those left to cherish her precious memory include her brother in law, Jay Young of Hulbert, Oklahoma; her daughters and sons in law, Pam Ellis and husband, Packy of Hulbert, Oklahoma, and Jacque Meredith and husband, Ron of Hulbert, Oklahoma; her son and daughter in law, Bryan Young and wife, Stacy of Hulbert, Oklahoma; her beloved grandchildren, Lacy and husband, Denver, Matt and wife, Janet, Mitch and wife, Kara, Jacob and wife, Haley, Jaylee and husband, Riley, Maycee, Cade and wife, Jenna, and Kamber; her treasured great grandchildren, Jarrett, Maverick, Navy, Aspen, Lakely, Evvy, Lemi, Tennessee, Baker, Jack, Briar, Fletcher, Lizzie, and Fisher; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
