Benjamin Lee Britt, age 79, died Friday, February 11, 2011 at his home in Wagoner, OK. Benjamin was born May 30, 1931 in Yonkers, OK to Mattison Peak and Virginia (Wagoner) Britt. He is fondly remembered as a man who dedicated his life to being a provider for his family, a husband, father and friend. He worked as an electrician, as lineman for the City of Wagoner and Lake Region, as well as in residential construction. For a time he owned a station and bait shop and repaired cars, had the first dump truck in Wagoner and hauled hay in the summer and wood in the winter. He later owned and operated his own excavation and heavy equipment company. He was a member of the Elm Tree Baptist Church in Tahlequah, OK. Benjamin enjoyed flowers and plants of all kinds, both indoors and out. His passion was stock car racing, which he participated in from the late 60's to early 80's. He served for a time in the Oklahoma National Guard. Benjamin is survived by his wife, Lucille (Robbins) Britt of the home; two sons, Benjamin Lee Britt and his wife, Amber MacKool Britt of Wagoner, and Ronald Lee Britt and his wife, Rhonda Britt, of Chelsea, OK; a daughter-in-law, Karen Scroggs; his grandchildren, Justin Lee Britt, Madison Dawn Britt, Erin Elizabeth MacKool, Adam Tyler MacKool and Dallas Jordan Fontenot; a brother, Herbert Britt and his wife, of Arizona; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marie Conatzer. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner. The Reverend D.J. McCarter will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers are Jay Parker, Christopher Parker, Bobby Warren and Jamie Warren. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner, OK.
