IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bertha Lee
Ashwood
November 15, 1929 – September 1, 2020
Bertha Lee Ashwood was born November 15, 1929 to Robert Edward Smith and Rocky Mae Golden Bess (Walker) Smith. She grew up in Yonkers, OK and made Wagoner her home most of her life.
Bertha was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family share the memory of what a great baker she was, even in her later years. She made many quilts through the years and like to sew.
Bertha was employed at Wagoner Public Schools, primarily in the cafeteria and also some custodial work. After retirement she enjoyed being a part in the foster grandparent program at the school.
Her family honored her with a big celebration last November to mark the occasion of her ninetieth birthday, giving them many good memories of what a great day it was and how much she enjoyed herself.
Bertha departed this life Tuesday, September 1, 2020, peacefully, in her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Mae Smith; a granddaughter, Shadarrel Salyer and great-granddaughter, Breann Salyer and a son-in-law, Gary Long.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Nancy Lee Walker, Danny Ray Ashwood, Kathy Sue Hickman, Sharon Faye Long and Susan Deanna Stewart; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; a sister, Billie Jean Newsom; a brother, Richard Smith; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2020 in Pioneer Cemetery. Officiate will be Kelly Grooms. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
At Mrs. Ashwood's request there will not be viewing.
