Bertha Lee (McElroy) Goodman was born July 30, 1932 in Canadian, OK to Loran Emmitt and Rosie Mae (Smallwood) McElroy. Bertha grew up in Checotah, OK. Her husband, Vernon Goodman, grew up in Oklahoma as well, but they didn't meet until both had moved to California. They were married in Arkansas. Because of Vernon's work, the family moved around quite a lot in the early years, later settling in Wagoner for their permanent home where they raised their children, Verna, David and Philip. They were longtime members of the Church of God in Wagoner.

Bertha loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower beds. She liked quilting and was always making something in crochet. Her family will always cherish the custom crocheted scarves and doilies with anniversary dates she made for them.

Bertha went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at her home in Wagoner, OK at the age of 91 years. She was reunited in Heaven with her husband, Albert Vernon Goodman; her parents, Loran and Rosie McElroy; two sisters and their husbands, Nellie and Willard Waters and Maxine and Walter Jernigan.

Survivors left to treasure Bertha's memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Verna and Rick Bryant of Wagoner, OK; sons and daughters-in-law, David Lee and Terri Lynn Goodman of Tulsa, OK and Philip Loren Goodman and Tonya Willhite of Wagoner, OK; grandchildren and their spouses, Allyson Blair and Kevin Richmond, Melanie and Jarod Kennedy, Ryan Goodman and Grant Goodman and Terri Castro; great-grandchildren, Garrett Blair, McKenna Blair, Addison Kennedy, Tug Kennedy, Brayden Goodman and Gavon Goodman; great great-grandchild Locklynn Goodman; sister-in-law, Louise Dunegan and Betty Goodman; brother-in-law, Clark Goodman; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Monday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.

The Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday morning, December 5, 2023 at the Church of God in Wagoner with the Reverend Bruce VonWald officiating.

Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner. Pallbearers will be Rick Bryant, Jarod Kennedy, Philip Goodman, Dave Goodman, Grant Goodman and Kevin Richmond.
