Betty Jayne Browning, daughter of Fred Combites and Eloise Cunningham Combites, was born on June 29, 1926, in Wagoner, Oklahoma and peacefully departed life on December 24, 2023, in her current home of Dallas, Texas at the age of 97 years.

In 1946 Betty was united in marriage to James Elliott "Bud" Browning of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Browning predeceased his wife in 1976.

Betty was the mother of three daughters and had a long career with Texas Instruments as a business manager in the Patent Department for 30 years in Dallas. She was a unique and well-rounded person who had many interests. She loved art, music, great literature, and traveling the world. She was an astute business woman who was a central figure in her family, helping with the management of her family farm. Her greatest passion was her love for her Lord and serving with her husband in their local church.

Other than by her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Dorothy Eidson of Wagoner, Oklahoma and Kathryn Baker of Warner, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Browning is survived by her three daughters, Ann Lockney and her husband Ron of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Susan Lockhart and her husband Jim of Dallas, Texas; and Jamie Miller of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Fred Combites, Junior of Wagoner, Oklahoma. Betty has seven surviving grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Betty will be remembered as a loving family member, a life-long learner, and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

The Visitation will be Friday, December 29, from 5 pm-7 pm at Mallett Funeral Home.

The Celebration of Life will be at 1 pm Saturday, December 30 in The Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner.

Mrs. Browning will be laid to rest beside her husband, James E. Browning, in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner.
