Betty Jane (Wilkey) Hardy was born March 31, 1935 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Arthur and Iona (Watkins) Wilkey. She had made her home in Wagoner since the age of twelve. Although Betty worked several times throughout her life, she primarily enjoyed homemaking activities. She was a skilled seamstress and proficient at crochet. Even when Betty was making her home in the nursing home she would mend clothes for her friends, and she taught several residents to crochet. She made many items for family, including baby blankets, coasters and dish cloths. Betty departed this life Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Wagoner Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hardy; her parents; a brother, Don Wilkey; and sister, Leola Mae Adams. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Roberta Kay and Don Oliver of Wagoner; their family: Betty's grandchildren, Christy and Mike Allen, and great-grandchildren, Emma, Drew and Sophie, all of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and grandchildren, Scott and Hallie Oliver and great-grandchildren, Noah and Rylee, all of Chouteau, Oklahoma. Also, Betty's son, James Nicholas of Chelsea, Oklahoma, and his family: Betty's grandchildren, Lindsey and Justin Gardenhire and great-grandchildren, Tessa and Jocelyn; and grandchildren, Heath and Katrina Nicholas and Jo Beth Nicholas; a sister, Beatrice Presley of Shawnee, OK; other relatives and friends. Her funeral service will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Officiating will be Chaplain Roger Miller. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner. Pallbearers will be Mike Allen, Don Oliver, Scott Oliver and Noah Rosamond.
