Betty Jane Hurst was born March 15, 1926 in Bristow, Oklahoma to William H. and Laura (Toddy) Herman. She began working at Glen's Restaurant as a waitress in 1966 and continued until her retirement in 1994. Betty was a member of the First Christian Church in Wagoner. In her earlier years she liked to play bingo. Betty departed this life on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at her home in Wagoner, just five days before her 84th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hurst, in 1979, by her parents, and two brothers, Taylor Herman and Ted Herman. She is survived by her son, Jack Hurst, and Pam Smith, and children, Justin Walker and Taylor Gaddy, all of Muskogee; a brother, Benny Hurst of Bristow, several nieces and nephews, including Todd Herman; other relatives and her friends. A funeral service for Betty will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, March 15, at the First Christian Church in Wagoner. Chaplain Steve Holstein will officiate. Pallbearers will be Todd Herman, Justin Walker and Bob Martin.
