Funeral services for Betty Jo Kennedy, 81, long-time resident of Wagoner will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Wagoner with the Reverend Dick Galusha and the Reverend Greg Smith officiating. Betty was born January 12, 1928 in Mulberry, Arkansas to her parents, Johnnie and Zula Patrick. Together since August 23, 1949, she and her husband, Donald Dean Kennedy farmed and ranched in Wagoner County. Betty loved to bake and cook, garden, take care of her flowers and her farm animals. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and country friend to all she knew. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Wagoner and of the Wagoner County Neodesha Extension Homemaker Group for many years and a former member of the Wagoner County Cattlemen's Association. Betty passed away Monday, June 15, 2009 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Donald Dean Kennedy in March of 2000. She is survived by her two children, Dona Dorr and her husband, Gordon of Wagoner and Rick Kennedy and his wife, Vickie also of Wagoner; two grandchildren, Christa Kempenich and her husband, Scott of Broken Arrow and their children; Jaxon 6, Gracie 2 and Sky 15 and Jarod Kennedy and his wife, Melanie of Chouteau and their daughter, Addison 2; a brother, H.C. Patrick and his wife, Betty of Wagoner; three sisters, Vera Lawhorn of Broken Arrow, Ruth Turnham of Jenks and Jean Jones of Stigler, numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Pallbearers for Mrs. Kennedy will be Jarod Kennedy, Scott Kempenich, Rick Bryant, Steve Butler, Steve Hall and Wayne Harding. Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Edwards, Jake Hall, Sherman Hall, Dick Hardin, Edgar Jeffers, Ronald Jones, Terry Jones and Floyd Young. Memorials may be sent to the First Christian Church Building Fund in Wagoner. Family members and friends who wish to view, are encouraged to visit Mallett Funeral Home Wednesday, June 17, until 7:00 p.m.
