Betty Jean (Jenkins) Moss was born on March 20, 1939, to William Henry Jenkins and Bessie Juanita (Brown) Jenkins in Clarksville, Oklahoma. Betty met and married the love of her life, James Everett Moss on August 2, 1955.
Betty's caring nature was evident in every aspect of her life. Whether it was her family, friends, or even strangers, she always went out of her way to lend a helping hand. Her genuine concern for others was a reflection of her compassionate heart. Within her own family, Betty was the pillar of support. She made it a priority to ensure the well-being and happiness of her loved ones as well as instill a work ethic in each of them. She loved cooking their favorite meal and offering a listening ear. She knew exactly how to make them feel loved and valued.
Betty's passion for gardening extended beyond flowers and vegetables. She had a green thumb and took great pride in maintaining a beautiful and flourishing garden. Her goats, chickens, and fish were not just pets to her; they were a part of her family. She cared for them with love and dedication, ensuring they were well-fed and had a comfortable living environment. Above all, Betty's greatest joy came from her grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them creating lasting memories through fun activities, storytelling, and laughter. Betty's love for God, her grandchildren, animals, and the garden brought immense happiness and fulfillment to her life.
Betty departed this life on Friday, August 23, 2024, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years. Preceding Betty in death are her parents, William and Bessie Jenkins; husband, James Everett Moss; granddaughter, Donna Gail Close; and several siblings.
Surviving Betty and cherishing the many memories of her life include her children, James Everett Moss Jr of Muskogee, OK, Bobby Gene Moss of Hulbert, OK, Debra Mae Close and her husband, David of Hulbert, OK, Larry Wayne Moss and his wife, Paula of Hulbert, OK, Alva Lee Moss and his wife, Karen of Hulbert, OK, William Henry Moss and his wife, Julie of Hulbert, OK; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings, James Jenkins and his wife, Carrie of San Bruno, CA, William Jenkins and his wife, Leila of Checotah, OK, Patricia Moss of Coweta, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her immensely.
A Celebration of Life, in memory of Betty Moss will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:00 am at Victory House of Praise, 410 East 6th street, Hulbert, Oklahoma. Come and share your wonderful stories and memories of Betty Moss.
