Betty Charlene Marshall Pruitt was born March 11, 1940 to Robert and Rhoda Marshall in Hulbert, OK, the youngest of 7 children.  She was married on August 23, 1957 to John Walter Pruitt.  They had three children and lived in California and Oklahoma throughout their married life.  She worked as a grocery store clerk in California and Oklahoma and owned Pruitt Café in Hulbert.  She also enjoyed working as a caregiver for several people in the area.

Charlene is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Joe Carey; her husband; her son, Jeff; her brothers, Junior, Leonard, and Virgil Marshall; and sisters, Mary Copeland and Ruth Sparks.

She leaves behind her daughter, Cheryl "Twink" Golden and her husband, David; son, Jerry Pruitt and his wife, Shari; grandchildren, Ryon Steeley and his wife, Kim, Nolan Steeley and his wife, Hatti, Justin Steeley and his wife, Ebony, Caitlyn (Steeley) Smith and her husband, Isaac, Nick Pruitt and his wife, Terri, and Jake Pruitt and his wife, Nikky; great grandchildren, Lakin and Kadence Steeley, Shannon and Shaylan Steeley, Jackson and Cora Pruitt, and Sutton Pruitt; a brother, Delmas Marshall; along with Perry Hatcher, who was like a son; niece, Gloria Marshall; dear friends, Sarah Manes, Dee Hughes and Callie Smith; other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Hulbert, Oklahoma with Brother Nick Pruitt officiating.
