Gibson, OK, with the Reverend Tim Boyette officiating. A Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening at Mallett Funeral Home, who is in charge of arrangements. Betty Lu (Brock) Shields was born October 30, 1949 in Huntington Park, California to her parents, Ross and Prudence Pauline (Smoot) Brock, who preceded her in death. She grew up in the Bell, California area, graduating from high school there. Betty was united in marriage to Donald Carroll Shields, and they enjoyed a wonderful life together. Don will always cherish his memories of the good times they had while performing as clowns, at which Betty was very accomplished. She was a wonderful homemaker for her family, who will greatly miss her. Betty and Donald moved to the Whitehorn Cove area near Wagoner, OK in 1999. She enjoyed traveling, and shopping for and collecting antiques. Betty so much valued the relationships she fostered through her pastime as a clown in the Christian Clowns Organization. Betty Shields passed away Tuesday, May 28, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Whittier, California. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Don, of the home; two sons, Jay Arthur Shields and wife, Tammy of Whittier, CA and Brock Shields of Tulsa, OK; a granddaughter, Sheridan Shields of Tulsa; daughters, Sierra Uhrig of California and Tracy Whitehead of Sand Springs, OK; a sister, Billie Retoike and her husband, Gordy, of Colorado; other relatives and friends.
