Betty Jo Sowers was born March 27, 1951 in Manitou, Oklahoma to Lillian Bernice (Wilson) and Porter Orville Green. Betty was employed as a machinist in industrial equipment manufacturing before her retirement.

Betty's life centered on her family. She loved hosting the holiday gatherings for all the family, always including extended family. Betty enjoyed gardening and liked to grow both flowers and vegetables. She was talented with arts and crafts. The family recalls how she loved to make flowers and other figures out of discarded plastic bottles.

Betty Jo departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the age of 71 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Lillian Green; a son, Jody Lee Sowers; a brother, John Green; sister, Barbara Ann Shanks and a sister-in-law, Pam Green.

Survivors include three children, Betty Lou Vanscoy of Porter, Ok, Chris Sowers and his wife, Sherry of Wagoner, OK and Gina Frazier and her husband, Johnny of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Jeremy, Jamie Dawn, Josh, Kourtney, Branden, Nicole, Braxton, Chelsea, John, Kayla, Bailey, Steven, Lexie, Hunter and Logan; twenty-two great grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Carolyn Brown of Porter, OK; brother, Pete Green of Coweta, OK; her true love, L.E.; her dog, Schoozie; a number of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Viewing will be Wednesday from 10 am until 7 pm at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory in Wagoner, OK.

The Celebration of Life will be at 11 am Thursday in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Reverend Joyce Wilhoit.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter, OK. Pallbearers will be Hunter Frazier, Logan Frazier, Steven Sowers, John Steele, Branden Vanscoy and Justin Sowers. The honorary pallbearers will be Benjamin McBride and Jeremy Sowers.
