The memorial service for Billie Gwayne Holt, age 86, will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, OK. Private inurnment will be in Boatman Cemetery, Mayes County, Oklahoma.
Billie Gwayne Holt was born March 12, 1932 in Adair, Oklahoma to Monroe Allen Holt and Dorothy May (McMillan) Holt. He served in the United States Air Force as an Airman Second Class before being honorably discharged February 24, 1958. He joined the church in 1986. Billie became a truck driver and had a long career in over the road trucking.
He was born with a talent for music and could play any instrument with strings, all without having had formal music lessons. Bluegrass music was his passion. Billie played bluegrass music all his life with different groups, mostly with his group, "Highway 66".
Billie departed this life Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Claremore, OK. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene C. Holt, in 2003; by his parents and an infant sister.
Survivors include his three sisters, Betty Jean Miller of Broken Arrow, OK, Reba Hanan of Oklahoma City, OK and Jerri Holt of Wagoner, OK; three nieces, one nephew and a number of great nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
