IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Billie Lou
Lee
August 27, 1930 – September 10, 2021
Billie Lou (Miller) Lee was born August 27, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas to Earle Roger Miller and Frances Elizabeth (Hatfield) Miller. As a teenager Billie worked through all the chairs as a Rainbow girl. After graduation from Wichita North High Billie began a lifelong practice of expanding her education by attending St. Joseph Nursing School for 1 ½ years. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree in 1980. Wherever Billie lived she audited classes, but later in life she received her Mdiv from Phillips Theological Seminary in 2002. At the age of 72 years Billie was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She served on the staff of the Regional Church in Oklahoma, after which she served as a pastor of two congregations.
Her nursing career spanned her lifetime, beginning at St. Mary's Hospital in 1955, followed by various office nurse positions, including her employment for Arthur Elliott from 1965 to 1997.
Billie always maintained a zest for living and challenged herself physically as well as mentally. Her family recalls how she swam eighty laps to commemorate her eightieth birthday, just as she had done on every birthday for whatever year she was celebrating.
She left this life to begin her new journey Friday, September 10, 2021 in Muskogee, OK at the age of 91 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earle and Frances Miller and a brother, Roger Miller.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Ann (Lee) and Dan French of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lucian George III and Sally Lee of Norman, Oklahoma and Robert Earle and Carol Lee of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; other family and friends.
Her friends and family will gather to celebrate Billie's life at 11 am on Friday, October 1, 2021 at the First Christian Church, 220 South Webster Avenue, Norman, Oklahoma. Officiating will be the Reverend David Spain and the Reverend Debi Powell Maxwell.
Billie will be laid to rest in the Columbarium at First Christian Church, Norman, Oklahoma.
