IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Billy Joe

June 8, 1949 – August 22, 2025
Billy Joe Sowers was born on June 8, 1949, to Sylvester Floyd Sowers and Bonnie Marie (Brooks) Sowers in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Billy met and married Betty Jo Green, and together they built a family, raising four children.
Billy was a caring man. He would often go buy groceries and take them to others in tough times because he knew they didn't have money to buy groceries. He would also be a common face you would see at the take one, leave one community grocery boxes here in town, as he would take many nonperishable items for others to enjoy. He enjoyed gambling, especially playing bingo. He enjoyed exploring different yard sales and attending auctions, often finding deals. In his younger years, Billy found joy in fishing, an activity that provided him with both relaxation and adventure. He absolutely loved to watch his westerns; he was especially fond of shows like Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Bonanza, and many more. Above all, Billy cherished his family, who were the cornerstone of his life.
In past times Billy enjoyed going to the bar to gather with friends and try to barter on finds at garage sales and auctions he attended. He never engaged in karaoke, but you could find him close by as he enjoyed watching others participate. Billy gave his life to the lord and attended Lighthouse Church regularly. He was proud to be a Christian and do his best to live for God.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Bonnie Sowers; his son, Jody Lee Sowers; brothers, Bobby Sowers, Evert Sowers, Terry Sowers, Randy Sowers, David Sowers, Loyd Sowers and 3 infant brothers; sisters, Lillian Brown, Mildred Sowers, Dorothy Sowers, and Margaret Sowers.
