Billy Buster Tackett was born July 1, 1938 in Muskogee, OK to Sherman and Lottie (Elam) Tackett. He grew up in Porter, OK and after high school earned as Associates Degree. He married the former Joyce Lorene Hogan on February 23, 1957. They enjoyed sixty years together, which began with their first home in Muskogee, OK until 1963 when Bill's work with Oklahoma Natural Gas took them to Okmulgee, OK and then back to Muskogee, until Bill and Joyce returned home to Porter in 1999, completing a full circle. He retired as a supervisor with ONG. Bill loved taking care of their farm and liked to fish and camp in his spare time. They have been active members of the Porter Church of Christ for many years.

Bill departed this life October 30, 2017, comfortably at home at Brookdale Cedar Ridge in Broken Arrow where they have made their home for about a year and a half. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Lottie Tackett and seven siblings, J.C. Tackett, Edward Tackett, Mickey Tackett, Dan Tackett, Jack Tackett, Mayble Tackett and a baby boy Tackett.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lorene Tackett of the home; three sons and their wives, Dwayne and Vivian Tackett, Bryan and Becky Tackett and Jeff and Tracy Tackett; three siblings, Gerald Tackett, Bob Tackett and June Lang; eight grandchildren, Emily Hubble, Amanda Martin, Cady Eakin, Will Tackett, Seth Tackett, Matt Tackett, Sarah Tackett and Lindsey McCall; twelve great-grandchildren, Madelyn Hubble, Caleb Hubble, Levi Martin, Tyler Martin, Isaac Martin, Hunter Tackett, Maddie Tackett, Alexis McCall, Pippa McCall, Allie McCall, Timmy McCall and Zion Reynolds; extended family and friends.

The Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Church of Christ in Porter. Mr. Ken Tackett will officiate and song leader will be Mr. Robert Tackett.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter. Pallbearers will be Roger Tackett, Richard Tackett, Paul Tackett, Gary Lang, Scott Lang and Larry Lang. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Tackett and Gregg Tackett.
