Brenda Joyce (Scroggins) Lenard was born on August 29, 1956, to James Buster Scroggins and Myrtle Mae (Rankins) Scroggins, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Wagoner High School, class of 1975. She married her High School Sweetheart, Johnny Ray Lenard on September 6, 1975, they were happily married and enjoyed life together for 49 years.
Brenda's unwavering compassion and transparency made her a beloved figure in the community, as she genuinely embraced her role as a city councilwoman, striving to foster positive change and connect with her residents. Her proactive approach to local issues and commitment to making a difference left a lasting impact on those around her, reflecting her dedication to public service and her heart for the community.
Brenda's passion for nurturing her chickens and her beloved dog, Kisses, reflected her caring nature, while her enthusiasm for travel, particularly on cruises, highlighted her adventurous spirit. Fond of browsing garage sales and tending to her yard and flowers, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Additionally, she dedicated time to honoring her loved ones at the cemetery, ensuring their monuments were beautifully decorated, which showed her deep affection for family and traditions.
Brenda departed this life on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 68 years. Preceding her in death are her parents, James, and Myrtle Scroggins; siblings, Ruby Carr, Dolly Tillison, Jessie Walker, Lois Dobson, Sonny Scroggins, Bobby Scroggins, Kenneth Scroggins, and William Scroggins; niece, Betty Kay Scroggins.
Cherishing the many memories of Brenda's life include her loving husband, Johhny Lenard of the home; daughter, Summer Tow, and husband Josh of Wagoner, OK; son Buster Lenard, and wife Alesha of Wagoner, OK; grandchildren, Ellen Price, Noah Didway, and Paisley Tow; great-grandchild, Salem Wiley; siblings, Helen Hendrix, and husband Raymond of Tahlequah, OK, JB Scroggins of Wagoner, OK, and Richards Scroggins, and wife Susie of Porum, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, along with a host of friends who will greatly miss her.
Her absence will leave a profound void, as the warmth and kindness she brought to both her family and the community will be deeply missed. The lasting impact of her love, generosity, and dedication to those around her has created cherished memories that will continue to resonate with everyone who knew her, ensuring her spirit lives on in their hearts.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 12-5 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.
Family will greet friends at a Visitation on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 5-7 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life, honoring the life of Brenda Lenard will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Lighthouse Church, Wagoner, Oklahoma. Reverend Lisa Sowers will officiate.
Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, Oklahoma.
