Obituary

Bruce Randolph "Randy" Gillin was born April 23, 1960 in Quito, Ecuador to Bruce Jennings Gillin and Emerita Eulalia (Hernandez) Gillin. Following high school graduation Randy attended Northeastern State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He loved people and enjoyed making friends in high school and college. Many of those lifelong friends called him by his nickname, "Bones". He played baseball in his youth. Randy served his country in the United States Air Force before his honorable discharge in 1988.

Because of his father's career Randy and his family lived in many places, including Madagascar, Baltimore and Quito, Ecuador. He spent a few summers in Porter, Ok with his grandparents. It was then that Randy established a deep relationship with his grandfather, especially while they spent hours fishing together. Later on, the family settled in Porter, making it their permanent home. Randy was able to care for his mother for ten years before her passing.

To say that Randy was an entrepreneur is almost an understatement. He invented several things and held a number of patents. His company, Some Assembly Required, kept Randy and his partner busy assembling furniture, swing sets, anything that needed putting together, for people. That work led Randy to invent a Swing Safe, a device that bolted the swings to the ground, a huge child safety benefit. Another time he started a chain of restaurants called Zooks Coney Island, with locations in Sapulpa, Owasso and Tulsa. Another of Randy's inventions, Fizz It Up, was sold on QVC. His imagination and artistic ability were both in use when Randy drew amazing cartoons.

Randy departed this life Monday, March 28, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 61 years. His family finds comfort in their knowledge that Randy came to know the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Emerita (Hernandez) Gillin; his grandparents, Roy and Helen Gillin and Hilario and Brigida Hernandez and his aunt, Lavonia Bright.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Karen Gillin of Porter, OK, Melisa Segroves and her husband, Jerry of Sand Springs, OK and Maria Rammage and her husband, Keith of Macon, Georgia; a brother, Roy Gillin and his wife, Heather of Warner Robins, Georgia; nephews, Frankie Martin, Jesse Gillin, Cameron Gillin, Tristen Buller, Nicholas Buller and Daniel Ragsdale; nieces, Veronica Taylor, Breanna Lewis, Helena Gillin and Autumn Gillin; extended family and many friends.

A memorial service celebrating Randy's life will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Pastor Jim Bias will officiate.
