Carol Sue Cruse was born January 14, 1939 in Wagoner, Oklahoma to, Leon and Nora (Boyd) Shockley. When Carol was three years old her family moved to a farm in Coweta, OK where Carol grew up. She first attended Muddy Flats School, then transferred to and graduated from Coweta High School. Carol later studied Keypunch at Draughn's Business College in Tulsa. After working in keypunch for a while Carol was employed by Braden Winch in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma as the Purchasing Agent.
Carol married the love of her life, Jimmy Lee Cruse, on May 2, 1958. They repeated their vows on the family farm and began a loving relationship that lasted 62 years. Carol and Jimmy made their home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Carol's family will always remember that she was a good mother to her two boys. She had a soft spot in her heart for cats. Her favorite activities were flower gardening and putting together cookbooks.
Carol departed this life Monday morning, August 3, 2020 at her home in Broken Arrow. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Nora Shockley; a granddaughter, Valerie Cruse; her aunt, Marie Boyd, uncle, Clarence Boyd; daughter-in-law, Loretta Cruse and cousin, Kathy.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Lee Cruse of the home; two sons, Terry Lee Cruse and his wife, Patty of Coweta, OK and Bradley Howard Cruse of Rowlett, Texas; grandchildren, Tonda Hagan and husband, Shannon Lee Hagan and Steven Cruse and wife, Samantha Cruse; four great-grandchildren, Shelby Hagan, Dalton Hagan, Hunter Cruse and Rilee Cruse; three great great-grandchildren, Emily Lynn Maxwell, Dustin Lee Maxwell and Austin Huntington Jr.; a sister and her husband, Gayle and Bill Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a number of nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
Friends and family may call for viewing Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be graveside Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma. The Reverend Don Couch will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to A-Vow Hospice, 2400 North Hemlock Circle, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012.
