Carolyn Sue (Swart) Hickey was born July 19, 1937 in Muskogee, OK to Albert Charlie and Jessie (Hayner) Swart. Carolyn graduated from Healdon, OK High School and later, when her children were in school, attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, OK. While in high school she worked as a telephone operator and later was employed at the Department of Human Services for the State of Oklahoma.
Carolyn married the love of her life, Eugene Ross Hickey, on September 10, 1961. They were married for 49 years, both loving their life together as they farmed the family land and raised their family. She adored her husband, children, grandchildren and all her family. Her life centered on them.
Carolyn valued all animals, but she was passionate about horses and loved to ride. Until an accident resulted in the loss of her hand, Carolyn was active in the Roundup Club and participated at every opportunity.
Carolyn departed this life Wednesday evening, April 14, 2021 at her home in Wagoner, OK at the age of 83 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hickey; two sons, Wiley Charles "Charley" Hickey and infant, Michael Gene Hickey; her parents, Albert Charles and Jessie Elizabeth Swart; her parents-in-law, Wiley and Allie Dove Hickey; a sister, Ann Amason and a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Weidman.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy Ann (Hickey) and Mark Patrick of Wagoner, OK; twin granddaughters, Ashley Patrick of Waco, TX and Madison Patrick of Baltimore, MD; a grandson, Franklin Todd Hickey of Wagoner, OK; a sister, Betty Robinson of Texas; a number of nephews and nieces, including Bill Weidman Jr. and his wife, Mary Jo of Van Buren, AR, Sara Brau, as well as Lori, Susan, Kathy, Robbie and Kevin; many great nephews and nieces; other extended family and friends.
Carolyn will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Eugene, following a graveside service at 11 am Saturday, April 24, 2021 in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, OK
