The graveside funeral service for Cecil Gibson, 84, of Wagoner, was held at 11 AM Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee, OK. Chaplain Nancy Brown officiated. Cecil passed away Friday, December 26, 2008 at the Wagoner Care Center . Cecil William Gibson Jr. was born February 29, 1924 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to his parents, Cecil William Gibson Sr. and Pauline (Pitts) Gibson. He grew up and attended school in Muskogee before serving his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp. After graduating from Oklahoma A&M, Cecil spent most of his life in Tulsa. He worked for ONG in Tulsa for 40 years and retired as a Purchasing Agent in 1986. Cecil was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with family and friends, fishing and hunting birds. He had moved to Wagoner the past 3 years to be closer to his family. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Jerry Gibson of Wagoner; 2 grandsons, Dustin Gibson and Brandon Gibson; one sister, Carolyn Sue Fields and her husband, Louis of Temple, Texas; two nephews, Michael Fields and Gary Fields and one niece, Pamela Lawrence.
