Obituary

Charles Alan "Chuck" Christensen was born June 21, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa to William Andrew and Edith Vera (Mathews) Christensen. He graduated from Charter Oak High School in Charter Oak, Iowa before attending the University of South Dakota. Chuck's earliest career was selling construction equipment before starting his own construction company. In 1981 Chuck moved to Oklahoma.

He was a part of the general contractors industry for many years while working for Western Plains and Dobson Bros. Construction. Chuck spent most of his life in highway construction, starting with Western Plains in the early nineties and working his way up to becoming project manager for all of Oklahoma. His coworkers remember him as a valuable and loyal employee who was well respected in the industry. In 2001 Chuck served as President of AOGC (Association of General Contractors).

Chuck married Raelee Burton on October 21, 1988, and they began a loving marriage, making their home in the Toppers area of Wagoner. They shared many happy times at their second home, the cabin on seventy acres, which Chuck built, reached by the roads Chuck built as well. Anyone who knew Chuck will remember that Chuck's hobby was to work when he wasn't at work. He was a true workaholic who became restless when not busy with a project.

His favorite way to spend time, however, was with his fourteen grandchildren. His delight was being with them and sharing activities they loved. He will be greatly missed by all his family.

Chuck died Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Andrew and Edith Vera Christensen; his first wife, Patricia Kay (Newberry) Christensen; his brother, William E. Christensen and one great-grandson, Cayden.

Survivors include his wife, Raelee Burton Christensen of the home; four children and their spouses and children:  son, William Eric and Diane Christensen of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and children, Dan, David, Devin and Christen and her two daughters;  son, John Brian and Erin Christensen of San Antonio, Texas and two children, Garrett and Dane; daughter, Christine R (Christensen) and Robert Nedvidek of Tulsa, Oklahoma and two children, Ryan and Matt; and son, Collin Patrick and Ashley Christensen of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and three children, Knox, Nash and Silas; one stepson, Bradley Wright Kirberger Jr. and his wife, Julie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and three children, Tristan, Tori and Nora; extended family and his friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, 401 Northeast 2 nd Street, Wagoner, Oklahoma. Officiating will be the Reverend Mark Pointer.
