Mr. Charles Henry Ekstam, age 87, departed this life late Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Hulbert, Oklahoma. Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at 10:30 am Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Crossroads Chapel, 1049 J.C. Parkway, Bloomington, Illinois 61705. Lunch will be shared following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crossroads Chapel.

Charles Ekstam was born June 11, 1931 in Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois to Chester and Grace (Peavler) Ekstam, who both preceded him in death.

Mr. Ekstam was a long time resident of Bloomington, Illinois and resided in Bonne Terre, Missouri with his son. Before retirement he owned and operated his own garage and towing company, working on large semis. A very talented man, Mr. Ekstam had designed and built his own tow trucks. He had a passion for bowling and bowled several unsanctioned 300 games, winning 8 NABI tournaments. He also coached for over 25 years in the AJBC and YABA programs, with many students making quite a name for themselves.  Mr. Ekstam was inducted into the Bloomington Bowling Association Hall of Fame in October of 1999.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Louise (Johnson) Ekstam; three daughters, Pam Miracle of Bloomington, Illinois, Tammy (Jeff) Rankin of Hulbert, Oklahoma and Kamela (Eric) Rehtmeyer of Bloomington, Illinois; one son, Tim (Leah) Ekstam of Bonne Terre, Missouri; three grandchildren, Timmy Ekstam, Jaree (Chad) Kneller, and Casey Bruehl; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ava and Elijah Kneller; other extended family and friends.
