Charles Sutton "Chuck" Woodson was born August 7, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York to Bernice and Charles Sutton Woodson Sr. At a very young age Chuck moved with his family to Tulsa, OK where he grew up. He completed his education with a degree in chemistry from Northeastern State University.
Chuck married the former Carolyn Bradshaw on June 12, 1964 in Tulsa, OK. They enjoyed a happy life together traveling to many locations for Chuck's work in research and development. He retired from NTS Innovations.
Around 2005 Chuck and Carolyn moved to the Flat Rock area of Ft. Gibson Lake near Chouteau, OK. Chuck volunteered his time as a firefighter for forty years. He was the fire chief of the Flat Rock Fire Department.
Chuck's family recall his talent and love for music and how he could play nearly all instruments. He also loved animals especially his dogs and particularly black labs. He looked forward to the return of the hummingbirds every year, always providing food for them and enjoying watching them.
Chuck departed this life Friday, December 6, 2019 at his home near Chouteau, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bernice Woodson and his sister, Nancy (Woodson) Deacon.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Carolyn Woodson of the home; two sons, Steve Woodson and his wife, Christie of Jefferson, TX and Jim Woodson of Frisco, TX; five grandchildren, Allie Starnes and her husband, Brandon, Cameron Woodson, Christian Woodson, Isabella Woodson and Will Woodson; two brothers-in-law, Otto Deacon and Greg Bradshaw; other extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends at a visitation Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, OK.
