Obituary

Cherry J. Heaton was born November 13, 1929 in Ray, Oklahoma to William L. and Lillian Oliver (Gott) Henderson. Cherry was a servant who enjoyed helping people, whether expressed through her mission trips to Africa and Mexico, her homemaking skills, especially sewing and cooking, or her work teaching Bible school. She loved music and singing and playing the guitar. Cherry married Loyal A. Norwood in May, 28, 1947. They enjoyed raising their family and a happy life for 44 years until his death in 1991. She later married J. Russel Heaton. They enjoyed fifteen years together until his death in 2009. Cherry relished her time with the Heaton family, filling a hole in their lives. She departed this life early Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at her home in Wagoner, OK. Besides her husbands, Cherry was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Ginger Ann Uskoski, on January 11, 2015; and a brother, William "Bill" Henderson. She is survived by three children and their spouses: Roy A. Norwood of Wagoner; Ann and Bob Uskoski of Ridgefield, Washington, and Randy and Carolyn Norwood of Olympia, Washington; two brothers, Jack Henderson and wife, Lorena, of Coweta, OK and Omer Lee Henderson and wife, Myrna of Rose, OK; and one sister, Katherine Horn of Woodward, OK. Her grandchildren surviving her are: Dan Uskoski, Scott Uskoski and wife, Erin, Andy Uskoski and wife, Brenda, Marty Uskoski and wife, Johana, Nannette Uskoski, Tyler Uskoski and wife, Karey, Kara Ann Norwood, Jesse Allen Norwood, Rebecca Stewart and husband, Thomas, Jenny Cazzell and Benjamin L. Norwood and wife, Jamie; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; numerous other family, especially the cherished five children and ten grandchildren she shared with Russel, and her friends. The funeral service to celebrate a life well lived will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Wagoner Church of God, with the Reverend Bruce Von Wald officiating. The family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Cherry's brothers, Omer Henderson and Jack Henderson. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hulbert, Oklahoma. Mallett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
