Ruth Butler, 90, of Wagoner, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 at Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born July 2, 1921 in Atoka, Oklahoma to John and Veril (Tate) Cocke. She graduated from Wagoner High School in 1941. On December 21, 1941 she married Lloyd Butler. They lived around and in Wagoner the sixty-six years they were married. Ruth enjoyed being a housewife and raising their three sons. For two years she worked in the cafeteria at Ellington School and also volunteered at the Wagoner Community Hospital. Ruth was a member and attended Abundant Life Church for 60 years and taught Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Butler, in 2008; by her parents; and two brothers, Ray and Claude Cocke. She leaves behind three sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Donna Butler of Broken Arrow, OK, Dennis and Susan Butler of Lawton, OK and Steve and Patti Butler of Wagoner, OK; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three nieces; two nephews; an aunt; other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Ruth will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Church of God in Wagoner. Ruth's son, Mr. Bruce Butler, and the Reverend Bruce VonWold will officiate. Grandsons serving as pallbearers will be Michael, Ken, David, Bryan, John and Jason Butler. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund at the Church of God, 115 South State Street, Wagoner, OK 74467.
