Funeral services for Claudia Lee Tibbs, 92, long-time resident of the Vann's Lake Community near Porter will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain John Catrett officiating. Mrs. Tibbs was born December 7, 1916 near Hulbert, Oklahoma to her parents, Cullis Elmer and Ollie (Tucker) Tadpole. She grew up in Cherokee County and attended school in numerous places, including Chillocco Indian School. On Sept. 15, 1934, she was married to Isaac William Dink' Tibbs. In addition to being a homemaker, Claudia worked alongside Dink on the family farm and later helped him at his Lakeway Service Station in Muskogee. She also made many friends working at Baker's Restaurant, Sequoyah Bay State Park and Greenleaf State Park. Mrs. Tibbs passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Tibbs was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Myrtle Virginia Tadpole and her husband of 57 years, Dink Tibbs. She is survived by her 5 children, Dolores Franklin of Vann's Lake Community, Alta Mashburn of Muskogee, Claudia Weatherford and her husband, Garry also of Vann's Lake, Isaac William Dink' Tibbs Jr. and his wife, Louise of Okay and Richard Tibbs of Tulsa; a sister, Lucinda Gaither of Vann's Lake; a brother, William Rufus Tadpople and his wife, Flo of Claremore, OK; two step-brothers; three step-sisters; a brother-in-law, Tony Tibbs and his wife, Lucy of Vann's Lake; a sister-in-law, Fern Tibbs of Kent, WA; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Family members wish to express appreciation to granddaughter, Tracy and the AllCare Hospice nurses for their kind and considerate care. Pallbearers will be Rick Buchanon, Jeremy Parnell, Jimmy Dale Fleetwood, Glenn Fishinghawk, Chance Stirlen and H.V. Roberts. Funeral arrangements and interment in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner are directed by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
