Obituary

Cona Mae (Kilpatrick) Tackett was born January 31, 1929 in Clarksville, OK to William Gilbert and Ollie E. (Cook) Kilpatrick. She graduated from Porter High School. She and her husband, Gerald Tackett, made their home in Muskogee, OK since 1948. Before retirement Cona was employed as a school secretary for the Muskogee Public Schools.

She was a long time member of the Chandler Road Church of Christ in Muskogee. Cona was an avid OU fan, and her family recalls how she was not shy about cheering for her team.

Cona loved birds. She was a member of the Audubon Society and travelled worldwide to see birds.

Cona departed this life Wednesday morning, January 22, 2020 at Carrington Village in Sallisaw, OK at the age of 90 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Tackett, in January, 2018; her parents, William and Ollie Kilpatrick; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Tackett; brothers and sisters-law, Bill and Linda Kilpatrick and Lloyd and Jane Kilpatrick and a sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Bud Miller.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and David Ellis of Duncan, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Dana Tackett of Cantonment, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Joyce Kilpatrick of Michigan; sister and brother-in-law, Gilberta and Granville Walker of Wagoner, OK; her grandchildren and their families, Kami and James Yasko and daughter, Emsley, Aaron and Allison Ellis and children, Noah, Cohen, Harper and Henry, Jared Ellis, Kolby and Victoria Tackett, Kenna Tackett, Lauren and Chase Rice, Jordan and Jeff Walker and children, Jolee, Avery and Landry, Kathryn and Christian Sizemore and daughter, Nora and Brittain Gist; extended family and friends.

The funeral service to celebrate her life will be at 10:00 am Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Chandler Road Church of Christ in Muskogee, OK. Officiating will be Ken Tackett.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter, OK, where Cona will be laid to rest beside her husband, Gerald.

Pallbearers will be Kolby Tackett, Aaron Ellis, Jared Ellis, James Yasko, Jeff Tackett, Darren Kilpatrick and Chris Kilpatrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Noah Ellis, Cohen Ellis and Henry Ellis.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Burnt Cabin Christian Camp, PO Box 97, Tahlequah, OK 74465-0097.
