Coy Armstrong

Coy Leon Armstrong departed this life, building the bridge to the other side, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma, with his loving wife at his side.

Coy was born on November 26, 1954, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Coy Corlis Armstrong and Nellie Mae (Smith) Armstrong. He grew up in Bono and attended Bono Westside School, where he graduated.

Coy's first marriage resulted in his son and only child, Donny Armstrong. On July 4, 1984, Coy married the love of his life, Lynda (Boyd) Brown. Together, they made their home in Porter, Oklahoma, and shared more than four decades of love, companionship, and cherished memories. Through the years, they built a life centered around family, laughter, and simply enjoying their time together.

Coy’s career as a heavy machine operator started in Jonesboro at an early age. His job as a crane operator, in which he spent many years, was the highlight of his career. He retired as a bridge builder crane operator, who took great pride in his work. He was skilled at what he did and was known as a hardworking man who could be counted on to get the job done.

Away from work, Coy enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing. Crappie fishing was a favorite pastime, and he could spend hours enjoying the peacefulness of the water and the excitement of a good catch. Coy was also well known for his love of conversation. He was quite the talker and never seemed to meet a stranger. Whether sharing a story, visiting with family and friends, or simply passing the time in conversation, Coy had a way of keeping those around him engaged and entertained. His cell phone was an additional way to let him reach out and touch someone.

Above all, Coy loved his family. The memories made through the years, both in the big moments and the simple everyday ones, will remain a lasting part of his legacy. His presence, stories, laughter, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Coy was preceded in death by his father, Coy C. Armstrong.

Those left to cherish the many memories of his life include his loving wife, Lynda Armstrong of the home in Porter, OK; his mother, Nellie Mae Bobbitt of Jonesboro, AR; his brother, Robert Armstrong of Jonesboro, AR; his son, Donny D. Armstrong of Jonesboro, AR; his stepson, Jeff Brown of Wagoner, OK; his bonus grandchildren, of Porter, OK, Caitlin Hopper, who he lovingly referred to as Rembrandt, and Cade Hopper, who he lovingly referred to as knot head; along with the remaining family of Jonesboro, including many other relatives and friends who were blessed to know him.

In honoring Coy Armstrong's wishes, a private graveside service was held.
