Darla Leanne Goforth-Bethel was born July 29, 1966 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Okay High School and attended college. Darla was married to Steve Goforth for twenty-five years. Together they had two daughters, Alicia and Ashley. Later in life Darla met Bill Bethel, her close companion. She was a longtime member of the Church of God.
Darla loved time spent with her family, sometimes camping, but especially at Christmas, which was always big at her place. She loved watching the children and grandchildren have fun, and her grandchildren couldn't get enough of her deviled eggs!
But she liked to spend time with older folks too. She found value in listening to their stories and playing bingo with them. Darla liked to crochet afghans and solve Sudoku puzzles. She loved all board games, but one of her biggest joys was beating Bill at dominoes. . She was an avid fan of OU athletics.
Darla departed this life Friday, September 22, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 51 years, 1 month and 24 days. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Joyce (Harris) Cantrell; grandparents, Nevorah and Ewing Harris; an aunt, Helen Hughes and three uncles, Gerald Harris, Gene Harris and Vernon Castillo.
Survivors include two daughters, Alicia Goforth of Wagoner and Ashley Edwards and her husband, Cliffton, of Wagoner; two brothers and their wives, Darrin Lee and Samantha Wells of Bixby and Charles (Dude) and Larissa Dodson of Wagoner; grandchildren, Brady, Logan, Kaden Goforth and Ryker Goforth; her companion, Bill Bethel, his three daughters and spouses, Jennifer and Kyle Smith, Jessica and Josh Hudson and Janelle Bethel, and their children; two aunts, Oreta Castillo of Mazie and Carol and Johnny Stout of Wagoner; nephew, Darrin (Bub) Wells Jr. of Beggs and Lillie Issabelle Dodson; many cousins, including Shirley and Guy Hawk and Connie and Boyd Rice; other relatives and friends.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory in Wagoner.
The Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Church of God in Wagoner, with the Reverend Bruce VonWald officiating.
Interment will follow in Hulbert Community Cemetery, Hulbert, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Darrin Lee Wells, Charles (Dude) Dodson, Brandon Russell, Cliffton Edwards, Brian Moore and Chris Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Hawk, Boyd Rice, Johnny Stout and Darrin Lee (Bub) Wells Jr.
