Dennis Roy Ramsey, of Wagoner, Oklahoma passed away on February 5, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, at the age of 73. Mr. Ramsey was born on November 4, 1949 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Max Roy Ramsey and Mary Elizabeth (Anderson) Ramsey. He graduated from Norman, Oklahoma High School in 1966. After graduation he worked at various jobs as an automotive mechanic.
In the early 1970s Mr. Ramsey surrendered to the Gospel ministry while at Woodslawn Baptist Church in Norman, where his father was pastor. He was Assistant Pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blanchard, Oklahoma, then pastored at First Missionary Baptist Church in Chickasha, and Satterwhite Baptist Church in Elmore City, Oklahoma. In addition to his pastoral duties, he also worked at his mechanic's profession.
In November 1983 Mr. Ramsey moved with his family to Tulsa, where he was called to pastor Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, which he did until 1989. He also worked as a bus mechanic for Tulsa Public Schools until 2001, when he retired due to health reasons. After retirement, Mr. Ramsey enjoyed camping and fishing, raising animals, and living outside.
Mr. Ramsey was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ramsey, of Wagoner; a brother, Gary Ramsey and his wife Cecilya, of Denison, Texas; another brother, Kirk Ramsey and his wife Robin, of Cape Coral, Florida; a daughter, Rhonda Ann Fears and her husband Joe, of Broken Arrow; a son, Danny Wayne Ramsey and his wife Ranae, of Broken Arrow; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Baptist Church, 10301 East 111 th Street, Bixby, Oklahoma, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
