Devone Myers was born April 21, 1946, one of nine children born to Ola Andrew and Margie Pearl (Sowers) Myers. After attending Wagoner Schools Devone went to work early on to help support his family. He was a natural car salesman and for a while ran his own business, Myers and Sons Used Cars. He also owned Myers and Sons Concrete and worked as a concrete finisher. He was an auctioneer and liked to go to yard sales and the casinos. He will be remembered as a person who was kind and helpful to everyone.
His family was the most important thing in Devone's life. He was a big fan of Branson, MO and liked to go several times a year. Through the years Devone treated his family to an annual trip to Branson, when family could all be together. These were some of Devone's favorite times, and will be cherished memories for all.
Devone departed this life Friday, April 22, 2022 in Wagoner, OK just one day after his 76 th birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ola and Margie Myers; his wife, Lois Jean Myers; two children, Johnny Dewayne Myers and Cathy Ann Kvittum; grandson, Devon Dewayne Myers; granddaughter, Linda Jean Smith; brothers, John Lee Myers, Jerry Myers and Berma Myers; sisters, Fay Flannery, Wanda Scroggins, Millie Spears and Donna Free; sons-in-law, Alva Kendall and Kenneth Watkins and daughter-in-law, Yvonne Myers.
He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Jean Smith and her husband, James of Wagoner, OK and Shirley Darlene Kendall of Wagoner, OK; one son, Michael Devone Rice and his wife, Sherry of Wagoner, OK; his companion, Cheryl Scroggins of Wagoner, OK; one sister, Peggy Poolaw; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews; extended family and friends and his loyal pal, his dog Beau.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 9 am until 7 pm.
The funeral service will be at 11 am Wednesday, April 27, 2022 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory in Wagoner, OK. The Reverend Lisa Sowers will officiate.
Interment will be in Bennett Addition of Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. Pallbearers will be Devone Smith, Donald Price, Dustin Rice, Tyler Rice, Mikey Rice and Matthew Nowels. Honorary pallbearers will be Wyatt Huggins, Johnathon Myers and Johnny Price.
