Obituary

Diane Elizabeth (Pyles) Choate was born on December 4, 1956, to John Pyles and Carolyn (Kidd) Brower in Charleston, West Virginia.  Diane lived in different states throughout her life but made Broken Arrow, OK, her home.

Diane loved children and enjoyed brightening their young minds.  She was an educator for over forty years, instilling the advancement of education in each child she taught. She played a role in many positions as an educator, from special education to being an educator at the school of the blind, teaching children to read braille, and retiring twice from the education system.   Her last place to teach before retirement was Broken Arrow Public Schools.  Writing was a huge interest of hers, writing three books of her own.

Family was important to Diane, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchild. She loved it when the opportunity arose to take her brother out to breakfast, she loved a good breakfast.  Mexican food was also something she enjoyed and was even better if there was a patio to sit outdoors.

Diane was an avid animal lover, although she never had the opportunity to own a horse, she had a love for them, and always entertained the idea of owning one.  She had dachshunds which she loved to have in her company.  Her family recalls her having quite the sweet tooth, enjoying candy bars, her favorite was Snickers and Hershey Kisses along with her morning iced coffee.  Watching a good sappy movie was something else she enjoyed.

Diane departed this life at the age of 67 years, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK.  Her family is sure to miss her and her infectious giggly laugh that she was well known for.

Cherishing the memories of Diane are her son, Brady and his wife, Sarah Choate of Durango, CO; her daughter, Katie Choate of Durango, CO; a grandson, Hudson Choate of Durango, CO; a brother, Barry Pyles of Broken Arrow, OK; a sister Angie and her husband, Doy Hoffman of Catoosa, OK.

A Graveside service, honoring the life of Diane, will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in Elmwood Cemetery, Bennett Addition, with Pastor Micah Wisdom officiating.
