After countless oil changes, numerous home improvement projects, and after crossing off a list of honey-dos that stretched into decades, Don Ray Donnell closed his tool box for the final time and entered into eternal rest on May 30, 2026.

Born July 9, 1936 in Berryville Arkansas to parents William (Bill) and Mary, Don grew up with his two sisters, Jo Ann (Garland) and Shirley (McClelland), and made many found memories while there. In 1954 Don joined the Navel Reserves for an 8 year service, and in 1955 Don asked for and was granted active duty status, and served aboard the USS Ponchatoula. After returning to reserve duty, Don began working at Sutherland Lumber Company, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1999.

In 1958, Don met Jo Alice (Ludwick) and the two were joined in marriage on October 25, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas. From that union they had 3 boys: Jeff (born 1960), Thomas, aka Tommy (born 1967), and Patrick (born 1969). Don and Jodie shared nearly 67 years together before her passing on October 19, 2025.

Don is survived by his sons Jeff, Thomas, and Patrick, Daughter-In-Laws Coweta (married to Jeff), and Stacy (married to Thomas) and his younger sister, Shirley. Grandchildren: Jeremy, Britanny (Lilyan) and Cody. Additionally, Don is survived by nieces and nephews, as well as one cousin, all of whom he loved dearly. Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jodie, his father Bill, his mother Mary, his older sister Jo Ann, and Daughter-In-Law Christy (married to Patrick).

Don enjoyed staying busy, and was always building or repairing something. He was a proud veteran that served his country, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was close to his sisters, and enjoyed the annual family reunions in Roaring River State Park. Don was also active in his church, having served on the board along side Jodie, and as a greeter, in addition to being an all-around handyman when the church needed one. Service was Don’s love language, and he showed that by the many things he helped with over the years for those he loved. Though quiet and reserved, Don made friends where ever he went. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held Saturday, June 13th at the Wagoner Church of the Nazarene in Wagoner Oklahoma at 10 AM, with Pastor Joe Gschwandtner officiating. A graveside service will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale, Arkansas at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wagoner Church of the Nazarene.

The family has entrusted the care and services for Don Donnell to Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, Oklahoma, 74467. 918-485-2911
