Donald Hugh Robertson, 74, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, at his home in Porter. He was born May 20, 1935 at Vanns Lake, OK, the son of Jess and Edna (Tadpole) Robertson. His senior year he was saved at Porter First Baptist Church and rededicated his life to God. After graduation Donald went on a wheat harvest and then to California where he worked for American Can for 2 years. After serving in the United States Army Donald was married to Linda Sue Bailey in Yuma, AZ on March 7, 1960. He soon began his career with the Southern Pacific Railroad Lines and worked as a conductor before his retirement in California. Donald and his family moved back to Oklahoma where he went to work for the Williams Pipeline for eighteen years. He then kept himself busy as a substitute mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his final retirement at the age of 68. Donald loved his railroad memorabilia and clocks, but he was passionate about trains, and he will be riding the Coast Daylight, his favorite train, forever. He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Linda; son, Charles, and his wife, Molly; daughter, Shelia, and his best friend, Jack, all of Porter; also, his grand-daughters, Kasey, and her husband, Tony, and Alex; his mother, Edna Robertson; his sister, Shirley Hogue, and brother, Doug, and his wife, Joyce. Donald was preceded in death by his father. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Freewill Baptist Church in Porter with the Rev. Bobby Jenkins officiating. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Jenkins, Virgil Hogue, Dwight Hogue, Mike McWilliams, Daymond Hardin and John Stone.
