Doris Irene White was born August 31, 1938 too Buster Brummett and Ida Irene Sells. She met and married Leon White. They were married for 54 years and raised two children, James Lee White and Cheri Leona Brave. Doris worked as a checker for Box IGA in Tahlequah and for Lost City School in the office and the cafeteria, and as a teacher's aide. She ran her own business two times- a convenience store and a day care in Hulbert. She was a member of the Spring Valley Freewill Baptist Church. Doris was an active member of the community. She was a member of Lions Club and Booster Club and served on the Hulbert School Board for many years, and was involved with the Modern Woodsmen. Doris loved children; as her own children grew up, there were many others in and out of their home, and she thought of all of them as her own. Doris departed this life Saturday, September 26, 2015 at her home. She was preceded in death just last year by her husband and best friends. Leon White, and by both her parents; one grandchild, Jared Andy Brave; three brothers, Bill Brummett, Bobby Wayne Worley and Steve Brummett. Survivors include her son, James White and daughters, Cheri Brave, both of Hulbert; five grandchildren, Charles Gibson, Lucas White, Samuel Brave, Buster Brave and wife, Brooke, Jamie Marsey and husband, Dylan, and Jessie and wife, Marissa; ten great-grandchildren, Breanna, Jared Ray, Hunter Leon, Devin, Karolyn, Wyatt, Nathan, Ally, Loren, and Kinsley Irene, who will arrive in February; three sisters, Lois Rutherford of Hulbert, Ruby Baldridge and Elaine Griffith, both of Kansas, OK; a special sister-in-law, Eva Manes of Wichita, KS; special cousins who were like sisters, Barbara Young and Betty Holland Jones; other relatives and friends, particularly A.J. and Cynthia Robinson and their children, Hannah and Patrick, who called her Grandma. A Visitation will be held at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Hulbert High School Gymnasium. Officiating will be the Reverend Charlie Levi and the Reverend Bobby Botts. Interment will be in Hulbert (I.O.O.F.) Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lucas White, Samuel Brave, Buster Brave, Josh Hubbard, Charles Gibson, and Leslie Steelmon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Teague, Bobby Disharoon, Perry Stevenson, Jerry Craig, Jack Young, Ron Meredith, and Ronnie Jenkins.
