Dorma Leola (Patterson) Simmons was born August 21, 1945 in the Ray Community, Cherokee County, Oklahoma to Dorman Codol Patterson and Mary Elizabeth (Estes) Rap.

Following high school graduation Dorma attended St. John School of Nursing and earned her registered nurse license. She provided loving care to her patients in the office of Dr. Roger Paul, with St. Francis Health Care, for many years.

Dorma made her home in Wagoner since 1983. Following retirement she enjoyed her time fishing, attending auctions and sales and collecting teapots. Her favorite thing was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

For a number of years Dorma spearheaded the Old Ray Community reunions held at Sequoyah State Park.

Dorma departed this life Monday evening, September 19, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years. She was preceded in death by her spouse, R. B. Morrison; her father and stepmother, Dorman and Babe Patterson and her mother and stepfather, Mary and Ralph Rap.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Johnny Heller of Coweta, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Bruce Heller and Claire Heller, of Coweta, Oklahoma; her siblings and spouses, Archie and Gail Patterson of Wagoner, Ted Patterson of Wagoner, Nancy Boomershine of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Randall Rap of Wagoner, Cindi Rap of Dallas, Texas, Pauletta and Mike Banowitz of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Rosa and Al Fritz of Kansas City, Kansas; numerous nephews and nieces, including Mandi Cloud and her husband, Jason of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; extended family and friends.

Viewing for Dorma will be from 1 – 7 pm Thursday.

The funeral service to celebrate Dorma's life will be at 10 am Friday in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. The Reverend Lisa Sowers will officiate.

Dorma will be laid to rest beside her mother, Mary Rap, in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Johnny Heller, Bruce D. Heller, Bruce W. Heller, Jason Cloud, James Patterson, and Toby Patterson.
