Obituary

Funeral services for Dorothy L. Ashlock, 89 of Wagoner will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner with Mr. Dan Fredman officiating. Dorothy was born the fourth of ten children on Dec. 19, 1922 near Eufaula in McIntosh County, Oklahoma to her parents, George W. and Elizabeth Lizzie (House) Hardy. She grew up and attended school in the Wagoner area. On Oct. 19, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage to William Olen Ashlock, a union lasting over 66 years until his death in 2007. After Olen's service in World War II, they lived in Southeast New Mexico, East and West Texas while Olen worked in the oil fields. After his retirement he and Dorothy returned to Wagoner in 2000. Dorothy was a homemaker most of her life, caring for her family. She was a faithful Christian and devoted member of the Church of Christ wherever they made their home in New Mexico, Texas and here in Wagoner. She and Olen also demonstrated their devotion of family through their support of children's homes in New Mexico while living there. Surrounded by family, Dorothy passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Wagoner Care Center. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Carl Hardy and by her sisters, Wava Douglas, Gladys Trotter, Hazel Joyce and Gloria Clover. She is survived by her sons, Gary Ashlock and his wife, Meilee of Wagoner, Lanny Ashlock and his wife, Bonnie of Conway Arkansas and Stanley Ashlock of San Marcos, Texas; seven grandchildren, Rodney and Laura Ashlock of Abilene, TX, Rick and Sherri Ashlock of Covington, WA, Ronnie and Hiromi Ashlock of Renton, WA, Shane and Katy Ashlock of Ontario, Canada, Sarah and Aidan Vasquez of San Antonio, TX, Spring Ashlock also of San Antonio and Emily Ashlock of Midland, TX; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan and Bonnie Ashlock of Abilene, and Aage, Mave, Kate, Samantha and Geneve Ashlock all of San Antonio; a brother, George Hardy of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Gerry Randall and Bruce of Tulsa, Evelyn Long also of Oklahoma city and Imogene Stewart and Major of Leander, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers will be Bruce Randall, Brad Randall, John Ashlock, Chet Sweet and Mike DeVault. Funeral arrangements and interment in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner are directed by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
