Obituary

Duard Lee Rhodes, born on September 19, 1957, in Hulbert, Oklahoma, to James Newton Rhodes and Leola Pearline (Thornburg) Rhodes, was a graduate of Hulbert High School.  ON November 27, 1980, he married Jonia (Joni) (Louellen) Rhodes, they were married 35 years until her passing on December 8, 2015.  Duard met Jeanne Archey, and they soon formed a connection; they spent several years happily enjoying each other's company.    He was known as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and companion.

Duard had a passion for woodworking and vegetable gardening, which allowed him to contact nature and express his creativity, A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he eagerly anticipated game days. He found joy in watching westerns, immersing himself in their timeless tales.  Above all, Duard treasured the moments spent with family and friends, creating lasting memories and sharing laughter together.

Duard departed this life early Wednesday morning, November 6, 2024, at his home in Wagoner, Oklahoma, at the age of 67 years.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Pearline Rhodes; wife, Jonia (Joni) Rhodes; granddaughter, Callie Nicole Slader; niece, Bobbie Gail Ivey; and infant sister, Janie Gertrude Rhodes.

Surviving Duard and cherishing the many memories of his life include his companion, Teresa (Jeanne) Archey of the home; children, Valerie Felps of Wagoner, OK, Chelise Slader and her husband, Dennis of Muskogee, OK, and Tamara Wells and her husband, Daniel of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Austin Felps, Dustin Felps, and Megan Felps, Blake Miller, Brodey Slader, Huxton, and Colson Wells; great grandchildren, Emma, Tanner, Kai, and Alex Felps; siblings, Frank Rhodes and his wife, Gail of Broken Arrow, OK, Kathy Owen and her husband, Tony of Wagoner, OK, Travis Rhodes and his wife, Sandra of Hulbert, OK, Eugene (Chooch) Rhodes of Council Hill, OK, and Gloria Shankle and her husband, Curtis of Tahlequah, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, all who will miss him greatly.

The family will greet friends and relatives at a Visitation on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 5-7 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of Life, honoring the Life of Duard Rhodes on Friday, November 8, 2024, will be held in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory at 1:00 pm.

Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. in Hulbert, Oklahoma.  Those serving as pallbearers are Blake Miller, Brodey Slader, Chase Shankle, Dennis Slader, Daniel Wells, and Eric Owen.
