Edith Marietta Shearrer was born February 12, 1937 in Minko, Oklahoma to Troy and Dovie Wenona (May) Combs. Edith grew up and graduated from high school in Chickasha, OK. She and her family moved to California, and she soon met the love of her life and husband of fifty-eight years, Wesley Lee Shearrer. The family moved to Wagoner in 1980. Edith was a Wal-Mart Associate for 21 ½ years. Following retirement she and Wes enjoyed traveling to and attending arts and crafts shows with his wood art. Edith departed this life on May 9, 2014 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 27 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Dovie Combs and a brother, Ernest Combs. Survivors include her husband, Wesley Lee Shearrer of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Wenona and Paul Eaton of Sacramento, CA and Gary and Jenni Lee Carter of Muskogee; one son, Wesley Dwayne Shearrer and his fiancé, Angie Day, of Wagoner; grandchildren, Samantha McKinsey, Ashley Eaton, Shawna Glass, Kylee Dornan, Blake Shearrer and Wesley Tyler Shearrer; a step grandson, Erik Sanders; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Dornan, Cheyenne Dornan, Coulton Dornan, Gavin Dornan, Tyler Glass and Rachael Glass; two brothers, Clovis Allen Combs and Roy Allen Merrill and his wife, Billie; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and Edith's beloved pet terrier, Fancy. The funeral service for Edith will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner. The Reverend Carl Murphy will officiate. Interment will be in the Bennett Addition of Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. Pallbearers will be Chester (Buzz) Price, David Price, Paul Eaton, Gary Carter, Roy Merrill, and Erik Sanders. Arrangements are by Mallett Funeral Home.
