Obituary

On April 13, 1945 in Murphy, Oklahoma, a beautiful baby girl entered this world. Her name was Effie Mae Reece. Her parents were Arthur and Alberta (Tarver) Bruton. Effie Mae attended Lincoln School in Wagoner, Oklahoma. She married Byrd Daniel Grayson and continued to make Wagoner her lifelong home. She was a member of First Baptist Church and also enjoyed attending Union Baptist Church.

Effie Mae was a loving, constant source of comfort, guidance and care to her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren alike. Her love for her family set an example to guide their lives. When she became ill and unable to care for herself, her granddaughter, Ashley was able to care for her and return the love.

She had several hobbies and interests, including bingo and fishing. Her favorite television shows were "The Young and the Restless", "Sanford and Son", and the old westerns, like "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza" and "The Lone Ranger".

Effie Mae Grayson departed this life to enter Heaven on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the age of seventy-five years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byrd Daniel Grayson; her parents, Arthur and Alberta Bruton and a sister, Gladys Carter.

Left to cherish her memory are her family who will miss her dearly.:  her children and their spouses, Patricia and Michael Black of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Brenda and Frankie Lane of Wagoner, Oklahoma, James Grayson of Dayton, Ohio, Edward Grayson of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Angeline Grayson of Dallas, Texas and Tina Grayson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, Carl Phillips and his wife, Norma of Denver, Colorado; twenty-six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; other extended family and Effies's friends.

Viewing will be Wednesday thru Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The family and friends will gather for a visitation 5-7 p.m. Friday evening.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, Oklahoma. Officiating will be the Reverend James Clark.
