Funeral services for Efton W. Hindman, 92, of Wagoner were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 31 at the First Baptist Church in Wagoner with the Rev. Mark Pointer officiating. E.W. was born January 18, 1920 in Brighton, Missouri to his parents, Granville and Iva (Johnson) Hindman. He grew up in the Springfield area and graduated Ozark High School. In 1941, E.W. enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Force and fought in battles in New Guinea and the Philippines. Returning from the war, E.W. was united in marriage to Edna A. Lowery on July 17, 1945. E.W. continued his education at Okmulgee Tech and then moved his family to Tulsa in 1948. He began working as a maintenance and service man for Tulsa area appliance stores, John Zinc Co. and finally the Pryor Foundry until his retirement. Early on E. W. was a member of the V.F.W., a member of the Masonic Temple for over 50 years and 32* Mason. In 1978, they moved to the Topper's area on Lake Ft. Gibson near Wagoner. He enjoyed wood carving and loved crappie fishing on the lake by their home. He peacefully passed away Sunday, July 29 at his home near Wagoner. E. W. was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eugene Hindman and by his grandson, Richard Hindman. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edna of the home; his two sons, William Richard Hindman and his wife, Zelma of Sapulpa and Bill Hindman and his wife, Sharon of Strang, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Susan Mulvaney, Janelle Colpitt, Tammy Hindman, Brian Hindman, Brett Hindman and Brad Hindman; 10 great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Megan, McKenzie, Matthew, Brigitte, Jared, Brock, Brianna, Braden and Brooklyn; other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Ron Thorne, Donnie Colpitt, Brian Hindman, Brett Hindman, Brad Hindman and Jeremy Mulvaney. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Myers, David Redfern, Dick Vowell, Buster Hefley and Jesse Page. Funeral arrangements and interment in Floral Haven cemetery were directed by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
