Funeral services for Elada L. Edwards, 66, long-time resident of Wagoner will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Wagoner, with the Reverend Mark Pointer officiating. Elada was born December 2, 1944 in Hulbert, Oklahoma to her parents, Fred and Anna Lee (Maxville) Smalley. She grew up in the Wagoner area and graduated from high school in 1963. Eloping to Stilwell, OK, Elada was married to J.W. Edwards, a union lasting more than 48 years. Elada was known as a tremendous seamstress and cook. A wonderful homemaker, Elada also owned and operated Renewal Dry Cleaners in Wagoner for many years. She was a member of the Starlight Home Extension Group and a member of the First Baptist Church in Wagoner where she sang in the choir. She loved to travel and tour with family and friends to Hawaii, Northeastern United States and Branson. Elada passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Preceded in death by her parents, Elada is survived by her husband, J.W. of the home; her son, Chris Edwards of Wagoner; her daughters, Shelley Brumbaugh and her husband, David of Broken Arrow and Emily Hayes and her husband, Andy of Muskogee; her grandchildren, Jarrad and Nicholas Edwards, Abigail and Hanna Brumbaugh and a future grandchild; her brother Fred Smalley of Wagoner; three sisters, Joyce Felton of Tampa, Florida, Patricia Settlemyre also of Wagoner and Jan Gragg of Edmond, OK; sisters-in-law, Charlene Brady of Sapulpa and Patti Butler of Wagoner; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers will be Steve Hall, Dick Hardin, Frank Cooper, Al Rosenthal, James Webb and Rick Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Myer, Ron Thorne, Rick Allison, Rick Henson, Bob Jones, David Jenkins, Willie Cotton and David Redfern. Funeral arrangements and interment in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner are being directed by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
