Elbert Earl Hoffman was born July 8, 1942 in Ray, Cherokee County, Oklahoma to Elbert Elsworth Hoffman and Roberta Eloise (Rice) Hoffman. Earl graduated from Wagoner High School in 1960 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Central State University. Earl served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He was employed at the Wagoner Police Department for many years before retirement at the Dispatch Supervisor. He was instrumental in establishing the first 911 service for the City of Wagoner and was helpful in modernizing the department with his knowledge of computers and their applications.
Earl married the former Chris Alaine Patrick on January 26, 2001. They enjoyed their life together until her passing on August 2, 2008.
In his spare time Earl liked any kind of fishing. He was a big fan of anything Bass Masters. Earl had been making his home on family land known as the Lost Shoe, located in rural Wagoner County. He dearly loved the lifestyle of living close to nature and enjoying old time ways.
Earl departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Chris; his parents, Elbert and Roberta Hoffman; a grandson, Braden Genet and an infant brother, Kenneth Dale Hoffman.
He will be greatly missed by those who survive him, including his brother, Bobby Hoffman of Wagoner; daughters, Kim Genet and husband, Bryan, and Lisa Day; grandchildren, Desiere Lang and her husband, Derek, Kaytlan Day, Baylee Genet and Kamryn Genet, all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter, Kimberlynn; many cousins, nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends.
A Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory.
The Graveside Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. The Reverend Terry Presley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Sonny Golden, Rick Stafford, Russell Pofhal, Jim Reasor, Josh Rice and Lance Goodfellow. Honorary pallbearers will be Gladys Rowe, Debbie Saylor and Bryan Genet.
