Eleanor Rose Kirkley was born July 2, 1942 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Jack and Flora Bell (Woody) Hise. Eleanor married George William Kirkley on November 5, 1960. They built a happy life together that lasted for more than sixty-one years. Their family was further blessed with the births of a son, Douglas and a daughter, Pamula.
Before retirement Eleanor was employed at Walmart for a number of years. She worked in a variety of positions, culminating her career as a pharmacy technician in the Walmart pharmacy.
In her spare time Eleanor enjoyed quilting and the shared interest with her friends in the quilting club.
She was a member of the "Sweet Adelines", the award winning women's' a cappella chorus and had special memories of the singing group performing at Carnegie Hall.
Eleanor departed this life Friday morning, July 1, 2022 at her home in Wagoner, Oklahoma. She would have celebrated her 80 th birthday the following day. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Flora Hise; and her siblings, Dee Dee Austin, Alberta Hicks, Robert Hise, twins, Leo and Leon Hise and Franklin Hise.
Eleanor will be greatly missed by her loving family who survive her. They include her husband, George William Kirkley of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Gina Kirkley of Coweta, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Pamula and Brian Hoover of Coweta, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Christopher Hoover and wife, Clarissa and their daughter, Sophia, Dakota Hoover, Jackson Kirkley and wife, Adria; Samuel Bressler and wife, Rachel; Mitchell Kirkley and Seth Bressler; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service celebrating Eleanor's life will be held at 2 pm Saturday, July 16, 2022 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
