Funeral services for Ellis C. Garrison, 93, long-time resident of Wagoner were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner with the Reverend Carl Murphy officiating. Ellis was born Nov. 9, 1915 in rural Cherokee County to his parents, Bert and Lizzie (Dye) Garrison. He was married to Rosa Lee Howard on Nov. 20, 1937. Ellis worked for many years as a mechanic for Spartin Aircraft in Tulsa. He attended the Ray Mission Church in western Cherokee County. Ellis also served as Wagoner County Sheriff for 8 years. He passed away at his home in Wagoner Monday, Nov. 17, 2008. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosa Garrison; his siblings, Elvie Charles Garrison, Mable Alberta (Garrison) Phillips, Wilma Gladys Garrison, Alford Palmer, Iva Teal, Sallie Baker and Jim Palmer. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Jimmie Howard of Coweta; nieces and nephews, Aileen Parker, Jim Baker, Jerry Garrison, Shover Phillips, Veva Delk McGehee, Gene Ellis Phillips, Glenda Sue McCool and Tommy Phillips; other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Jim Phillips, Earl Lee Howard, Steven Howard, Jason Howard, Gerald Overall and George Overall.
