Ellis Leon Murray was born September 23, 1958, in Coweta, Oklahoma to Jessie Dean (Whittington) Murray Duffy and Roy Murray. Ellis was a hard worker and was self employed as a floor installer. He made his home in Checotah, Oklahoma.

Ellis enjoyed his life and was always willing to help his neighbor. He loved animals. He liked being outdoors riding four wheelers. He enjoyed collecting knives.

Ellis departed this life at the age of 64, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on November 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Murray and Jessie Dean Duffy; his brothers, Roy Edward Murray, Mitchell Dewayne Murray, Bobby Joe Murray and Tommy Murray; one sister, Eva Rae Murray; a sister-in-law, Dana Murray; a brother-in-law, Wayne Anderson and several aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Linda and Larry Anderson of Stilwell, OK, Billy Murray of Checotah, OK, Shirley and Buddy Thayer of Wagoner, OK, Junior Murray of Wagoner, OK and Charles and Christina Murray of Wagoner, OK; one uncle, Charles Albert Whittington of Wagoner, OK; numerous nieces and nephews, including Brian Murray; cousins, other extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Wagoner at 11 am on Thursday, November 17, 2022. The Reverend Mark Pointer will officiate.
